Coding & Billing Considerations

• Append modifier 51 when billed with other procedures during the same session.
• Use modifier 59 if stenosis repair is distinct from other nasal procedures performed concurrently.
• Document the nature and extent of stenosis, graft or flap type, and reconstruction technique.
• Do not bundle with septoplasty or rhinoplasty unless performed separately and coded appropriately.
• Specify if cartilage graft was harvested and donor site documented.
• Confirm payer coverage for graft/flap procedures in nasal vestibular repair.

Why Proper Coding Is Important

Accurate coding with CPT code 30465 ensures correct reimbursement and reduces claim denials by distinguishing vestibular repair from broader nasal surgeries. It supports precise documentation of surgical technique and enhances clarity in patient records. Proper code selection promotes compliance with payer policies and improves communication among clinical and billing teams.
