About

Dr. Joe Walsh is an Interventional Cardiologist at Saint Alphonsus in Boise, Idaho. He is originally from Chicago, and recieved training from Northwestern Memorial Hospital, University of Illinois College of Medicine, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Dr. Walsh is a strong believer in shared-decision making between physicians and patients and feel it is his obligation to effectively communicate the risks and benefits of health decisions with his patients and their family. Dr. Walsh's areas of interest and expertise are in minimally invasive procedures for heart blockages and structural heart disease (valve problems and congenital problems) but he believes in a balanced approach to health that integrates diet, exercise, stress reduction and medicines (when appropriate). Dr. Walsh is an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears Fan. He moved to California in 2013 to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive catheter-based treatment of heart disease and has been practicing there for the last 7 years. After Dr. Walsh and his wife had their 4th child they decided to relocate to Boise for the wonderful outdoor lifestyle, friendly people and family-oriented culture. When he is not at the hospital Dr. Walsh enjoys playing with his 4 kids, playing guitar, doing crossfit and (learning) to fish.
