This “Data to Delivery” episode reviews the comparative outcomes of transaxillary access for TAVR and MCS, the stroke signal and laterality debate, vascular complications of percutaneous versus surgical approaches, brachial plexus injury risk, dwell-time considerations for axillary MCS, and the learning curve for this technique.

Dr. Rajiv Tayal is an interventional cardiologist and structural heart specialist who serves as Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Structural Heart Program at The Valley Hospital. He specializes in the treatment of complex cardiovascular disease, including coronary artery disease, chronic total occlusions, structural and valvular heart disease, pulmonary embolism, cardiogenic shock, and peripheral vascular disease. Dr. Tayal is highly experienced in advanced minimally invasive procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), MitraClip, high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention (CHIP), and mechanical circulatory support for critically ill patients.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Rajiv Tayal is an active researcher, educator, and national leader in interventional cardiology. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College and has led numerous national clinical trials while authoring peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. Recognized internationally for his expertise in alternative vascular access for TAVR and complex coronary interventions, Dr. Tayal has received distinctions including Future Leader of TAVR, Young Leader in Interventional Cardiology, and Master Faculty for the Coronary Artery and Myocardial Protected PCI Initiative.
