About
Dr. Alyson Michener is a geriatrician, medical educator, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Michener serves as Program Director of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship and Director of the Aging Theme for the medical school curriculum, where she helps shape the next generation of physicians in aging-focused care. Her clinical expertise includes home-based primary care, transitions of care, and the treatment of hospitalized older adults, with a strong emphasis on patient-centered, interdisciplinary medicine. In addition to her educational leadership, Alyson Michener serves as Medical Director of the Truman Schnabel House Calls Program, providing comprehensive care to older adults in the home setting.
After earning her medical degree from New York Medical College, Dr. Michener completed her internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, where she also pursued advanced training in medical education leadership. She later completed her geriatrics fellowship and Measey Fellowship in Medical Education at the University of Pennsylvania. Passionate about mentorship, curriculum development, and innovative models of geriatric care, Alyson Michener has led initiatives integrating aging medicine into undergraduate and graduate medical education while advancing research in home-based care, surgical co-management, and geriatrics training. Her work reflects a commitment to improving quality of life for older adults while preparing future clinicians to meet the evolving needs of an aging population.
