About
Dr. Atil Kargi is a clinical endocrinologist and the Co-Director of Pituitary Center in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He specializes in diseases of the pituitary gland including pituitary tumors, hypopituitarism, Cushing’s disease, acromegaly, prolactinoma, adult growth hormone deficiency, and vasopressin deficiency (AVP-D), formerly known as diabetes insipidus. Dr. Kargi’s research experience includes clinical trials in the diagnosis and treatment of adult growth hormone deficiency and Cushing’s disease.
Dr. Kargi completed his medical degree at Dokuz Eylul University in Turkey and relocated to the United States to complete an internal medicine residency at University of Pittsburgh and a fellowship in endocrinology at University of Washington. From 2008 to 2022, Dr. Kargi served in several roles as endocrinology faculty at the University of Miami, including Director of the Inpatient Endocrinology consultation service, Co-Director of the Pituitary Disorders Program, Co-Director of the Endocrine Testing Center, and the Program Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship and Course Director for Endocrine and Reproductive Systems at the Miller School of Medicine.
