About
Daniel D. Dressler, MD, MSc, MHM, FACP is Professor of Medicine, Director of Internal Medicine Teaching Services at Emory University Hospital, Associate Program Director for the J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program, and Medical Student Society Advisor at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. He also chairs Emory School of Medicine's Society Advisors Leadership Council. He completed his undergraduate training at Duke University in Physics, and his medical school training followed by Internal Medicine residency, fellowship in Hospital Medicine and Master of Science in Clinical Research, all at Emory University. He is board certified in internal medicine with Focused Practice certification in Hospital Medicine.
In the Department of Medicine Dr. Dressler directs the Evidence-Based Medicine curriculum for the internal medicine residency program. He was awarded the Department of Medicine’s inaugural Educator Impact Award, was inducted into the inaugural class of the Department’s Academy of Medical Educators, and is past-Chair of the Academy's Executive Council.
Dr. Dressler serves as Deputy Editor for NEJM Journal Watch General Medicine (since 2022) and Contributing Editor for NEJM Journal Watch Hospital Medicine (since 2007). He is Consulting Editor for Medical Clinics of North America (since 2023); and editor of Principles and Practice of Hospital Medicine textbook (1st and 2nd edition). He was co-editor of the original Core Competencies in Hospital Medicine, and has over 200 invited presentations at national, international and regional professional meetings. He has served on dozens of national committees and as course director for more than 25 national and regional conferences—including the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) Annual Meeting. He is a past recipient of SHM’s national Excellence in Teaching Award.
