About

Dr. Sophie Woolston believes in treating all patients with respect. Typically, most patients see an infectious disease specialist during a complex medical issue, when they and their families are facing challenges. It is Dr. Woolston's goal to understand each of her patients; their history, their symptoms, and their concerns to arrive at a correct diagnosis. Each patient is unique, each patient's situation is unique as well, and Dr. Woolston works with them to create a treatment plan that works best for the patient.

Dr. Woolston's clinical passion is treatment of infections in the immunocompromised host and in patients experiencing infections who also have cardiovascular medical problems.

Dr. Woolston joined MaineHealth in 2020. She started the Cardiovascular Infectious disease clinic in 2020. She launched the Cardiovascular Infectious disease service in 2024, providing infectious disease care for patients with heart transplants, LVADs, cannulated on ECMO and other mechanical circulatory support devices.
