About

Isabel Valdez is an Associate Professor and primary care physician assistant at Baylor College of Medicine specializing in general internal medicine, preventive medicine, and chronic disease management. Her clinical interests include obesity medicine, diabetes, hypertension, women’s health, mental health wellness, and LGBTQ+ health care, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based preventive screening and patient-centered care. In addition to treating patients in the Baylor Medicine General Internal Medicine clinic, Valdez is deeply involved in mentoring physician assistant students and advancing quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, preventive care, and health system innovation.

Beyond her clinical work, Isabel Valdez has become a recognized voice in primary care education and physician assistant leadership. She has received honors including the 2022 Carl E. Fasser Visionary Leadership Award for excellence in clinical practice, education, and service, and has presented nationally on topics including colorectal cancer screening and chronic disease prevention. As Chair of CME and Education for the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and a contributor to primary care education platforms and podcasts, Valdez is passionate about expanding access to high-quality, compassionate care while helping train the next generation of advanced practice providers.
