About

Hamid Djalilian, M.D. is an internationally renowned expert in the field of Otology, Neurotology, and Skull Base Surgery. In addition to routine conditions of the ear, Dr. Djalilian's areas of expertise include complex ear surgery, hearing loss/tinnitus, balance disorders, facial nerve paralysis, and skull base surgery.

He received his medical degree with honors from the University of Minnesota and completed his Otolaryngology residency at the same institution. He completed his fellowship training at the Minnesota Ear, Head & Neck Clinic and the University of Minnesota. He has published over 300 articles and lectured more than 200 times at national and international meetings. In addition to a busy clinical practice, Dr. Djalilian conducts research in several areas related to device and software development for treating tinnitus, hearing loss, dizziness, ear infections, among others. He has multiple granted and pending patents on medical devices and the treatment of tinnitus. He was the first to develop a combined internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy and sound therapy to allow remote treatment of tinnitus (https://xtinnitus.com/ ) and is in the process of developing a cognitive behavioral therapy for the treatment of vertigo and other migraine-related disorders.

He is a member of multiple committees of national organization and has been a thought leader on the role of migraine in ear disorders like dizziness, tinnitus, hearing loss, etc. and is the president of the Migraine in Otolaryngology Society. He is the chief advisor to telemedicine start-ups (https://neuromedcare.com/ ) to medically treat patients with dizziness, tinnitus, central (non-pulmonary) long COVID, post-concussive syndrome, and migraine remotely. He has developed novel therapies for Meniere’s disease, tinnitus, sudden hearing loss, chronic ear fullness, among others.

In addition to novel medical treatments, he has developed new procedures for treating cholesteatomas and other complex ear disease, facial nerve disorders, and skull base tumors and CSF leaks. Patients from nearly all states in the U.S. as well as a multitude of other countries (e.g., China, India, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Canada, among others) have sought care with him. Dr. Djalilian also mentors medical students, residents, PhD students, and post-doctoral fellows to train the next generation of physicians and scientists.
