Dr. Michael Hutz

Dr. Michael Hutz is an otolaryngologist–head and neck surgeon and Assistant Professor at Rush University Medical Center specializing in sleep surgery and the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. He is board certified in both Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and Sleep Medicine, with expertise in hypoglossal nerve stimulation, drug-induced sleep endoscopy, nasal and sinus surgery, robotic surgery, upper airway reconstruction, and skeletal procedures for complex sleep-disordered breathing. Dr. Hutz completed his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, followed by residency training in otolaryngology at Loyola University Medical Center and a fellowship in sleep medicine and surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Hutz is actively involved in research and medical education focused on advancing surgical treatments for obstructive sleep apnea. He serves as Section Head of Sleep Surgery at Rush, has lectured nationally and internationally on sleep surgery techniques, and contributes to the field through editorial leadership and academic publications, with particular interests in upper airway stimulation, maxillary expansion, and innovative approaches to airway reconstruction.
