About
Dr. Sara Helmig is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist and Associate Member of the St. Jude faculty, where she practices within the Solid Tumor Division of the Department of Oncology. Her clinical and academic work centers on pediatric solid tumors, with an additional interest in quality improvement and clinical operations. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine before completing both her pediatric residency and pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
At St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Dr. Helmig combines the care of children with solid tumors with efforts to improve how oncology care is delivered. Her work in quality improvement and clinical operations examines ways to strengthen care processes and support better experiences and outcomes for pediatric cancer patients. Alongside her clinical responsibilities, she contributes to St. Jude’s broader research and academic mission within the Department of Oncology.
