About
Adam Block, PhD is a Harvard-trained health economist who has worked for twenty years at the intersection of hospitals, health insurance, government, and research. After receiving his PhD, he worked for Congress helping draft sections of the Affordable Care Act and then for CMS writing some of the original regulations building the Health Insurance Exchanges. From there, he spent five years reporting to CFOs in data analytics roles where he learned that most data vendors need some help showing return on investment. He founded Charm Economics in 2018.
At Charm Economics, Dr. Block’s team develops evidence for health services and digital health companies, starting with return on investment models, financial modeling, pro formas, profit/loss modeling, and designing both natural experiments and RCTs to provide real world evidence to support companies providing value in the health care sector.
Leveraging 20 years as a purchaser of data and data analytics, Charm Economics develops return on investment models for small- to mid-sized MedTech and digital health companies. Charm translates insights from academic journals, white papers and public data sources to provide simple, clear, and evidence-based value propositions. Charm supports a variety of organizations across life stages, from early pitch deck creation to peer-reviewed article production. We provide customized solutions and strategic guidance that allows organizations to identify areas of potential cost reduction, evaluate clinical impact, and improve patient outcomes.
