Dr. Luigi Manfre

Dr. Luigi Manfrè is an expert in the field of neuroradiology and spinal interventional imaging. He graduated with first-class honours in 1989 and subsequently specialised in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology in 1993. His career is characterised by a series of prestigious institutional appointments, including Chairperson for Spine of the European Society of Neuroradiology, member of the European Board of Neuroradiology of the European School of Neuroradiology and of the Interventional Spine Committee of the American Society of Neuroradiology ASSR. He currently serves as Secretary General of the European Society of Neuroradiology ESNR.


Dr. Manfrè has played a leading role in the advancement of minimally invasive Interventional Neuroradiology of the spine, with a focus on the most modern CT-guided interventional techniques for diseases of the spine, both under local anaesthesia and analgo-sedation, avoiding general anaesthesia and long post-operative periods. With extensive practical experience, he has performed over 7000 interventional procedures, demonstrating a high level of competence and precision.


Parallel to his clinical and research activities, Dr Manfrè has played an active role in organising international multidisciplinary congresses and courses in the field of Spinal Interventional Neuroradiology. He has received numerous awards for his scientific contributions, including international and national prizes, and has participated as an invited speaker in over 300 international courses and congresses. Currently, he is on the Scientific Editorial Board of the European Society of Radiology journal European Radiology ESR.
