Transition from Clinical Practice to Industry
Dr. Cholkeri trained in minimally invasive gynecology surgery (MIGS) during the early years of the field’s establishment. She provides an overview of her involvement in starting a MIGS fellowship, becoming faculty for the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), working with industry partners to develop products, and serving as a consultant for medical device companies.

About
Dr. Aarathi Cholkeri-Singh, MD, FACOG is a distinguished Obstetrician-Gynecologist in Illinois. She received her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. During her fourth year of residency, she was accepted as a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgical Fellow through the AAGL, the world’s largest organization dedicated to minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Her training was based on the East Coast at Harvard and Brown Universities’ hospital affiliates. She trained with six different surgeons in the fields of General Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Gynecologic Oncology and Urogynecology. Dr. Cholkeri-Singh has been in practice for more than 21 years. She is affiliated with several hospitals in the Chicago area, including Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, and Edward Hospital.
Dr. Cholkeri-Singh is a strong leader and actively involved in many organizations. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and has served as a faculty member for The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the AAGL, ISGE and SLS. She is the Associate Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, the Co-Director of the AAGL/SRS fellowship program in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and the Director of Gynecologic Surgical Education at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. She also is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of OB/GYN at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Lecturer for the Department of OB/GYN at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
Dr. Cholkeri-Singh has presented on multiple occasions at national and international meetings, published manuscripts in well-recognized, peer-reviewed medical journals, and contributed three book chapters to two different medical textbooks. Her current research interests include laparoscopic myomectomy, bleeding rates after laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy, adhesion prevention at time of laparoscopic surgery, enhancing visualization at laparoscopy, minilaparoscopy, and hysteroscopic sampling for abnormal uterine bleeding.
Dr. Cholkeri-Singh is currently Executive Director and Chief Medical Officer at KARL STORZ, an innovative medical technology company.
