About

Dr. Lobato has been a Consultant in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Hospital Universitario de Cruces (Bilbao, Spain) since 2010. Her department is recognized as a leading unit in the endovascular management of Critical Limb Threatening Ischemia (CLTI), particularly in the below-the-knee (BTK) and below-the-ankle (BTA) segments. She developed her Vascular Fellowship Programme at Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre (Madrid) and furthered her training with short-term placements at Hospital du Nord in Saint-Étienne (France), UniversitätsSpital Zürich (Switzerland), and St. Franziskus Hospital Münster (Germany).


Over the past decade, Dr. Lobato has focused primarily on endovascular treatment of the lower limb, routinely performing complex chronic total occlusion (CTO) revascularizations, including various bidirectional access techniques, transcollateral approaches, plantar loop creation, and venous arterialization. Since 2024, she has served as a reviewer for the Critical Limb Ischemia Journal, Journal of Endovascular Therapy, and Annals of Vascular Surgery. Her unit has presented multiple communications at well-recognized international symposiums and has published numerous papers in leading journals within her specialty.


Additionally, Dr. Lobato is the Co-director of the BTK-BTA Unit and is responsible for CLTI workshops at her institution. She is a member of the Diabetic Foot Working Group of the Spanish Society of Angiology and Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (SEACV), actively participating in initiatives to improve the prevention and management of diabetic foot in Spain.
