About

Dr. Minhaj S. Khaja, is the David M. Williams M.D. Research Professor and Professor of Radiology & Cardiac Surgery specializing in vascular disease treatment and research at University of Michigan. He sees patients with a variety of vascular diseases, including those with aortic dissection, aortic aneurysm, aneurysmal and occlusive disease of the arterial system, endoleaks, pulmonary vascular disease, DVT, and chronic venous occlusions.
Dr. Khaja completed a five-year, MD/MBA joint degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Kelley School of Business. He completed his residency and fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology (IR) at the University of Virginia. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Khaja became an assistant professor of radiology at University of Michigan Health, where he was the associate program director (PD) of the diagnostic radiology residency and the PD of the interventional radiology (IR) residency. He currently serves as associate PD of the IR residency, Co-Director of the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team, and a member of the multidisciplinary Venous Health, Peripheral Arterial Disease, and Aortic programs.
Dr. Khaja has a strong passion for medical education. He is devoted to the education of future interventional & diagnostic radiologists, vascular and cardiac surgeons, and vascular medicine specialists. He is the editor of a popular review book titled “Vascular & Interventional Imaging: Case Review” and has authored or co-authored over 100 publications. He is active in numerous clinical trials and served as site PI in many, including his own translational studies. He has a leadership role in many national service organizations, including the SIR, the American College of Radiology, American Board of Radiology and the Association of Program Directors in IR. Dr. Khaja also serves as the SIR advisor to the American Medical Association Relative Value Update committee and serves on the Food & Drug Administration Circulatory Devices Panel.
