About
Quinn C. Meisinger, MD, is a board-certified interventional radiologist who specializes in image-guided, minimally invasive surgery to treat cancer and a wide range of benign diseases. He specializes in tumor ablation, inferior vena cava (IVC) filter retrieval, prostate artery embolization, pulmonary arterial interventions and radial uterine fibroid embolization. Additionally, he specializes in peripheral arterial disease and deep venous thrombosis management.
Dr. Meisinger has been the director of the Independent and Integrated Interventional Radiology Residencies within the UC San Diego Department of Radiology since 2019. In 2018, he was awarded the Outstanding Physician Consultant award by the Department of Urology, the Clinical Teaching award by the Department of Radiology and the Divisional Teaching award by the Division of Interventional Radiology. In 2020, 2021 and 2023, he was again awarded the Interventional Radiology Divisional Teaching award. In 2020, he was awarded the prestigious Whitehill Prize for Excellence by the Academy of Clinician Scholars. His research is focused on geniculate artery embolization, prostate artery embolization, chemical gallbladder sclerosis and radiation protection.
Dr. Meisinger completed a fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he served as chief fellow. He completed residency training at UC San Diego School of Medicine and earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He is board certified in interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology.
Dr. Meisinger is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and Western Angiographic and Interventional Society (WAIS). He is on the board of directors for the Association of Program Directors in Interventional Radiology (APDIR). He is a member of numerous national committees. He is a member of the SIR Genitourinary Clinical Specialty Council and SIR Educational Advisory Committee. He serves as the SIR Ombudsman and Conflict of Interest Mitigator.
