Suchita Shah Sata is an academic hospitalist and clinician-educator at Duke University Hospital, where she serves as Associate Professor of Medicine and Vice Chief of Faculty Development in the Division of Hospital Medicine. Her clinical work centers on inpatient general medicine, while her academic focus emphasizes high-value, cost-conscious care and quality improvement. Trained at the University of Pennsylvania for residency and earning her MD from Columbia University, Dr. Sata has built a career around improving how care is delivered in the hospital setting—reducing unnecessary interventions while maintaining high standards of patient outcomes.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Sata is deeply committed to medical education and mentorship, leading initiatives that train the next generation of physicians in evidence-based, high-value care. She has held key leadership roles in graduate medical education, contributed to national conversations through publications and presentations, and earned recognition for her excellence in teaching, including a departmental Excellence in Education Award.
