About
Dr. Amal Isaiah's clinical practice spans the full spectrum of pediatric ear, nose and throat disorders, with a special focus on sleep disorders, airway‐related problems, chronic ear infections and hearing loss. He is known for his expertise in complex breathing problems in medically fragile children, including neonates, those born prematurely, those with Down syndrome and those with major heart defects.
While Dr. Isaiah's approach is grounded in the latest research, he never loses sight of what matters most: helping children breathe easier, hear better and thrive. Whether addressing an ear infection or navigating complex medical challenges, Dr. Isaiah partners with families every step of the way, ensuring they feel heard, informed and confident in their child's care. Dr. Isaiah also brings a distinctive combination of scientific rigor and clinical innovation to his work. He trained in medicine in India with multiple honors, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in neuroscience as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, where he studied brain plasticity related to hearing restoration. More recently, he was named to the annual Poets&Quants global list of Best and Brightest Executive MBAs.
Since joining University of Maryland, Dr. Isaiah has been widely recognized for his leadership and contributions. Through his leadership as the innovation lead at the University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing, he works on technologies for better health outcomes. He was awarded the Harris P. Mosher Award by The Triological Society, the highest award for clinical research excellence in otolaryngology. He has received the Charles Ferguson Award from the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and was honored as a Mentor with Transformative Impact by University of Maryland School of Medicine. Additionally, he has been named a "Top Doctor" by Baltimore magazine.
