Dr. Carolyn A. Chan is an addiction medicine physician, psychiatrist, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine, she specializes in the treatment of substance use disorders, alcohol use disorder, tobacco dependence, and the complex intersection of addiction and general medical care. After earning her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Chan completed training in internal medicine before pursuing advanced specialization in addiction medicine and medical education.
Dr. Chan is passionate about expanding access to evidence-based addiction treatment and improving how clinicians are trained to care for patients with substance use disorders. Her academic work focuses on medical education, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and innovative approaches to physician training. Known for her compassionate and patient-centered approach, she is dedicated to helping individuals navigate recovery while advancing the integration of addiction medicine into everyday healthcare practice.
