About Dr. Patrick Hensley
Patrick J. Hensley was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and attended Miami University in Oxford, OH for his undergraduate training. His medical education was completed at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. During my medical school training, he completed a one-year anatomic pathologic fellowship focusing on genitourinary malignancies and autopsy. He then completed my general surgery and urology residency training at the University of Kentucky. His research interests during medical school and residency primarily focused on pathophysiologic mechanisms of therapeutic resistance of metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer to anti-androgen therapy.
Dr. Hensley then completed a Society of Urologic Oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research interests currently focus on identifying patient- and tumor-specific characteristics predictive of therapeutic response to intravesical and systemic therapy for urothelial carcinoma of the bladder and upper tracts. He believes that understanding a patient’s background, family situation, and priorities are the first step to aligning their treatment goals.
