About

Dr. Veronica Lerner earned her medical degree from the University of Colorado and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York in 2002. Following her residency, she pursued a fellowship in pelvic surgery, specializing in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Urogynecology at the Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle.

In 2007, she joined the faculty at the NYU School of Medicine as Director of Simulation in the Department of OB/Gyn where she developed academic programs, medical teams and mentored medical students as an Associate Professor. In 2017, she moved on to Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she assumed a similar role, building a simulation program for minimally invasive GYN surgery. Through her tenure there, she developed comprehensive multi-disciplinary teams and services for patients with endometriosis and fibroids.
Dr. Lerner has expertise in advanced laparoscopic, robotically assisted, and vaginal procedures and specializes in treating patients for endometriosis, fibroids, adenomyosis, chronic pelvic pain, other pelvic pain, and bleeding disorders, as well as prolapse and incontinence. Her academic interests include education via simulation and its relationship with quality improvement, advancement of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and the quality of surgical care. She has authored multiple publications, including 25 peer-reviewed articles, spearheaded several research projects, and serves as a peer reviewer for several journals. She is on the Editorial Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Journal, as well as an associate editor for Simulation in Healthcare Journal. She has received 14 institutional and four nationally recognized teaching awards. She has been actively involved in leadership positions at the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), SGS (Society of Gynecologic Surgeons), and American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) Simulation Consortium Working Group. Dr. Lerner has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and awarded Best of Manhattan for Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Lerner has been listed in Super Doctors® for several consecutive years.
