About
Dr. Osmanuddin Syed Ahmed, MD, FSIR, FCIRSE, is a distinguished physician and a pioneer in the field of image-guided interventions and a global leader in genicular artery embolization (GAE)—a groundbreaking, nonsurgical treatment for knee osteoarthritis. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and then completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Chicago in 2014. He then completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Ahmed’s specialties include radiology, transplant oncology, and vascular and interventional radiology. His interests and areas of expertise include histotripsy, interventional oncology, pulmonary embolism therapies, and uterine fibroid embolization (UFE). He previously served as a professor at the University of Chicago, and has performed hundreds of GAE procedures and is actively involved in multiple clinical trials advancing the science of embolization.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Ahmed is the founder of Flow Medical, a startup focused on innovative catheter technologies for pulmonary embolism (PE) treatment. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and has been invited to speak at major national and international conferences, earning a respected reputation as a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) in the field.
